This course in Flat Pattern Sinamay will open up a whole new world of possibilities to you. Without needing to invest in any blocks you will learn how to design more structured pieces using stiffener and wire to help hold your shape.
It would be ideal if you had previous experience in working with sinamay to take this course, so you have a better understanding of how the fabric works and also that you have had some experience of sewing the fabric. It is possible to complete theseĀ pieces without the need for a sewing machine and in my in-person classes, we do not use machines, the students all hand stitch the binds. But I show you both ways on this course
What you will need:
- Sinamay (at least a metre, preferably two)
- Needle and Thread
- A scissors
- An iron
- Sinamay Stiffener
- Cotton Covered Millinery Wire
- A Band (a thin metal one is preferable)
- A sewing machine is not required but it will speed up the process of attaching your binds if you can use one. I do also show you how to hand stitch it on.
