I recommend this Free Form Sinamay Course as a must have for anyone wanting to work with sinamay in a much more unstructured fluid way.Ā In this course we manipulate the sinamay to create soft gentle curves. These can then work as stand alone pieces or it is an amazing trimming technique for more structured pieces.
Don't be worried if you can't sew, I'm not a great sewer either, and I had no sewing experience when I started this career. I am completely self taught when it comes to using a needle and thread. Once you can hold a needle in your hand and understand that you will have to push it up and down through fabric, that's all you need to know to complete this course. You will improve as you go.
What you will need:
- Sinamay (at least a metre)
- Needle and Thread
- A scissors
- An iron
- A Band (a thin metal one is preferable, but a plastic one will do for this course)
